Marjorie A. Knitter, the inspirational and hard-driving president of The Moote Group, a full service land management firm that assists developers, builders and lenders in all aspects of land development management and infrastructure programs from entitlement through finished lots. She is well know in the Southern California construction industry, with more than 23 years of experience in providing land management services. She is engaged in numerous related industry associations and holds leadership roles in most.

Marji oversees all aspects of business planning, development and management for the firm's nearly 50 employees. She is active in many of the company's services such as developing feasibility studies, constructability analysis, offsite cost estimates; administering bid packages and contracts; and negotiating construction reimbursement agreements for public improvements performed through private development. Marji personally performs the associated work and leads the development project team providing pro forma development and costing, whether the developer is buying, selling, borrowing, budgeting or building out the project.

Since assuming leadership of The Moote Group during the economic recession in 1990, she has grown the family business from seven employees to nearly 50 and expanded the firm's expertise from civil engineering and construction management to include bid administration for private and public works, contract administration, dry utility consulting and coordination, program management services, construction reimbursement support and forensic estimating and litigation support services. Under Marji's leadership, diversification helped The Moote Group not only survive, but to thrive during all business cycles in the real estate and construction industry.

alhoyo@moote.com

Al Hoyo had one burning desire when he joined what is now The Moote Group almost 20 years ago to create a utility consulting division within the already successful land management firm. Today he is a principal in the company and the vice president of the business unit he developed, the Utility Resource Network. His team estimates costs and coordinating the installation of dry utilities for everything from master planned communities to industrial/commercial projects and other complex utility projects. One of the most important aspects of his "dream job"; is to stay on top of what's happening in the utility industry, the people who run it and the politics that affect it, so that our clients know what to expect and their projects get done on time and on budget.
